Finally, I'm back. Been kinda busy. Miss Priss decided to scare us to death by having terrible projectile spitting up so I had to get her to the doc ASAP.( Carter had "Spit up issues", too, but nothing like she does). She will eat and "BLEH"! up it comes!!! After a the visit to the doctor he said "the bad news is.....she is a piggy". HA HA! Yes, my little lady loves to eat soooo much she doesn't know when to stop! So she eats/throw it back at me and cries to eat again b/c she's hungry!!! Sooo, nipped that in the bud and I am feeding her less time and already I can see a difference....NOW! Back to our birth story!!..
*****************************************************************************
I got all dressed, (as you can see), in my "not so cute" hospital birthing gown. (BTW, I so wanted to order one of those cute birthing outfits I saw on Etsy but just couldn't justify the cost, so I had to wear regular old hospital fare! HA! ). Anyway, it was kinda quiet in the labor room until the doc arrived! After all, it was the time most folks were heading to dreamland, we were just getting hyped up to have a baby! the contractions still weren't bad at all. I was SOOOO happy my doctor was on call!!!! I think he had a (big) idea that our baby was coming tonight. For a couple of hours we just chatted and got on FB and stared at the clock. The contractions were happening but not that bad. Then Dr. Wheeler came in and broke my water and boy did that change everything! WOW, almost immediately things started happening. I lose time of when and what but Jon & Mom told me things progressed FAST! OK, so here's the deal. Go figure, I made a big deal out of getting the epidural. Because I loved it with Carter. So, I was ready and waiting to have that wonderful feeling of being "pain free" like before. The anesthesiologist came in and gave me the longed for epidural . Got it and kept waiting for the pains to ease up like they did before. But, guess what? Didn't work. Mom was telling me, "things should ease up now" with each contraction but I kept shaking my head, "it's not working!" And the pressure was GREAT by this time! OMG!!! Where was the nurse? my doctor? I told mom I thought it was time to push and she almost had a heart attack. Jon grabbed the phone and the nurse came in and well, guess what? Yep I was almost there. ALREADY! She "wedged" me with pillows to get Ella Kate to turn and that lasted about 20 minutes until I felt immense pressure again. AND, I got the shakes! I was shaking so bad and kept asking where my doctor was in between those strong last contractions.my sweet nurse came in and took one look and said, "let's get Dr. Wheeler. NOW!" He walks in and seems to take FOREVER to get his surgical outfit on! I kept telling him, "I can't do this!" and with 3 small pushes, OUT POPS ELLA KATE!!!!!! AND DR.Wheeler, said, "YOU JUST DID IT!" HAHA! (Oh and Yep, "IT'S A GIRL"!)it was all so fast that I was even shocked. (HARD WORK without an epidural, for sure, but oh how glad I was when I was able to get off the delivery table and walk to the bathroom with no dead legs 30 minutes after giving birth!!)! yes, at 12:34 A.M. our precious angel daughter was born. With guess what? Not black hair like I thought ,(like I had), or even brown like Carter had, but BLONDE hair. It was shocking and so funny. She looked at me immediately and we bonded instantly. I got to do the "skin to skin" bonding which I can't say enough about. It was AWESOME!! They all left us alone--me/Jon and my mom and Ella Kate--it was neat. It's awesome how they just leave you alone to bond and chill out! I loved it! (of course, it WAS in the middle of the night!)! Anyway, I loved having Ella Kate in the same room I labored in and where she had her first bath. The rest of the world was sleeping and we were celebrating the birth of our 2nd child. Our sweet little girl. It was just a wonderful time and I got to nurse her and bond with her for as long as I wanted. Around 2:30 A.M. they came in to bathe her and give her that first bath. Jon and mom watched and I was watching from my bed and just going over in my mind how fast everything happened and how wonderful and what a miracle it all was. It was the most surreal thing I've ever experienced. And so FAST. It was hard, for sure, but every pain worth it to see my beautiful baby girl that we had prayed for , for so long. She didn't look like I thought she would, haha, she looks like a combination of all of us but I see Carter/Jon/Me and my sister, Natalie in her the most. Around 3, we got to go to our room. Jon pushed his new baby girl in the cart down the quiet hall , in wee hours of the morning, to our room. We were soooo wide awake. Mom, me and Jon could NOT sleep (well, I take that back, JON did, after we got to the room, HAHA!), but of course we were SOOOO excited and had so much fun just checking her out from head to toe. Her little hands/long SKINNY legs/ Jon's toes/light eyebrows and eyelashes. She is dainty/tiny/sweet/alert/perfect. I couldn't quit crying or thanking God for this precious gift He gave us. We are in love with our precious Gabriella Kate. It was a day I'll remember for ever and be thankful for. Our dream came true!
